Advantages of  solar energy

The advantages of solar energy will help us understand why the development of this most abundant source of power has not been seriously developed for our modern world until recently.

Ancient civilizations from the beginning of recorded history used and knew the advantages of solar energy to heat light there dwellings.
The ancient Chinese, Greeks and Romans used magnified and reflected solar energy to light fires and torches for religious purposes.

During the fifthteenth century Leonardo Da Vinci’s sketch books show that he had been designing techniques to harness solar power.

There were many people aware of the possibility of depleting our nonrenewable energy resources and experimenting with solar energy powered engines as early as the 1800s. As the industrial revolution was progressing at a fever pitch, coal was the primary source of fuel for development of steam powered machinery. Coal was readily available and easily harvested to supply the expansion of many new industries. The facts solar energy was disregarded as an effective source of power and only perused by a hand full of people.

In the 1830s solar energy was recognized by a few visionaries around the world that were convinced that the sun could produce usable steam power. The technology at the time was primitive with only 1% of collected sunlight converted into usable power. Industrialists around the world admitted it was an interesting concept, and again it was not perused.

Between 1860 and 1890 the advantages of solar energy started to evolve as inventors developed workable steam engines, refrigeration devices, and the first crude solar cells that converted sun light into electricity.

By the early 1900s a few visionaries applied the advantages of solar energy and  started solar energy power companies producing steam, but were not able to convince any one to invest in the technology and they quickly folded.

In the 1950s when silicon was discovered as a semi conductor it led to the development of
solar panelswith approximately 6% efficiency rate.

During the space race in the 1960s the advantages of solar energy and solar technology took a big leap forward as solar energy was applied to power satellites in space.
No other energy producing technology could supply adequate long term power. The majority of satellites in space today that we depend on for all of our high-tech communications rely on the sun for there continual operation. The international space station would not be possible with out solar energy technology.

During The oil embargo of the1970s the world suffered a rude awakening; suddenly many people finally realized we were to reliant on nonrenewable energy sources and the  advantages of solar energy needed to be perused. Unfortunately as the oil embargo subsided and the price of oil dropped our government did not have the foresight to realize the potential of solar energy and dropped the ball.

Between 1980 and 1990 with non renewable energy being  inexpensive for the majority of the world solar energy technology  development stalled, but continued to be persued by a few visionarys in the the private sector and became much more efficient with out our government realizing the economic or environmental benefits.

As the new millennium started and world demand of non renewable energy sources continued to raise, the advantages solar energy development became more relevant. Extremely high oil prices convinced many people and governments around the world that solar energy needed to be recognized and funded as a primary source of renewable energy. (As for the U.S. government: better late than never)

The advantages of solar energy and the steps that make its rich history have enabled us to realize that this renewable energy technologys will influence our future like no other in history. Future generations will look back and wonder why we ever used nonrenewable energy sources.

   Interesting advantages of solar energy

Sunlight travels from our sun in 8 minutes from 93,000,000 miles away at 186,000 miles per second.

The sun produced all of our nonrenewable sources of energy,(coal oil and gas)which began as plant life millions of years ago.

Solar energy is the most abundant source or renewable energy available.

The sun showers the earth every hour with enough solar energy to meet world demand for a year.

Solar energy can produce power for everything we use in our daily lives from our homes, businesses, cars, and yes even airplanes.

Presently there is more demand for solar energy than supply.

Solar energy can be generated commercially and independently.

Solar energy will save our environment, reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources, and pay for its own development quicker than any other new energy technology.

renewable Vs. nonrenewable energy will be the big change in world energy production as we develope solar energy .

The advantages of solar energy will contribute amazing results in energy production in the very near future as we continue the development of this not so new energy technology.
